Rubber Strip and Slicer Cutting Machine

Rubber Strip & Bale Cutting Machines — Automatic PLC Control

Why precision strip cutting matters

In rubber compression and transfer molding, the weight of the preform placed in the mold cavity directly controls part quality. Too little compound produces short shots and voids; too much produces excessive flash. Most rubber processing facilities cut compound strips from sheeted bales by hand or with basic slitters - resulting in strip thickness variation of ±20% or more. This variability is the single largest source of excess flash, material waste, and dimensional rejection in compression molded rubber parts.

An automatic rubber strip cutting machine, controlled by PLC and HMI, eliminates this variability. Strip width and length are programmed precisely, and the machine cuts at consistent speed with consistent blade pressure - producing strips of uniform thickness and also option of cut by weight (typically ±2–3%) vs much higher variation in manual) that feed into presses consistently.

Machine overview — what Ulai supplies

Ulai supplies automatic rubber sheet strip cutting machines and rubber bale cutting machines suitable for natural rubber (NR), synthetic rubber (SBR, EPDM, NBR, CR), and compounded rubber in both sheet and bale form. Machines can cut strips by size or by weight, with automatic feeding and discharge.

Key technical features

PLC + HMI control

All cutting parameters - strip width, strip length, cutting speed, number of strips - are set through the HMI touchscreen. Multiple cutting recipes can be saved and recalled by part number, enabling instant changeover when switching between compound types or part programs.

Horizontal and vertical cutting options

Our RSC-600 and higher model provide both horizontal and vertical directions cutting - slicing sheeted compound into strips of consistent cross-section in a single pass. This is important for production lines where the mill sheet thickness varies slightly across its width.

Bale cutting capability

In addition to mill sheets, machines with bale cutting attachments can cut directly from a compound bale — slicing through the full bale cross-section to produce shot bale of defined width and length from the solid bale, bypassing the sheeting step entirely in some compound types.
